VENISON VANDALISM

Criminal at the Rockery!

The new small area of rockery added recently has settled in and has become part of the park landscape.

The alpines seem at home, the honeysuckle and clematis are busy climbing Duncan's trellis and the monies have stretched to allow the rough area on the left hand side of the steps to be planted.

The Council, true to their word, have painted the new railing and have put the finishing touches to the original barriers.

With a view to the security of our new plantings, as soon as the volunteer gardeners had completed the task as far as they could, I contacted the Community Police and asked them to keep an eye open for unwanted visitors.

However, soon after, when we came into the park, we found that two plants central to the display had been 'snipped'!

Who had done the dastardly deed?

We have a statement from a local driver travelling along Hyndland Road about 6.30AM who claims to have seen a large strange looking dog in the vicinity of the park!

What breed of dog would be out alone at that time in the morning?

Anyway the 'dog' turned out to be a deer!!!

Vandal or Venison!!!?

A deer.... Hyndland Road?

Is this the venison vandal?

Any sighting of the 'suspect' should be reported immediately.

Bambi brunching on our plants and bushes is forbidden!

WELCOME TO THE WEB SITE OF FRIENDS OF OLD STATION PARK

The aim of this site is to provide information on the area's history as well as up to date news of current developments of the park's infrastructure

FOSP was set up in March 2008 with three main objectives

  • To improve Old Station Park for use by members of the local community for recreation and sports.
  • To encourage enjoyment of the arts and local heritage.
  • To promote good management of the space.

We need friends to be involved to ensure that any development of the park protects the space itself and that it meets the needs of the local community.

To become a friend please log in to create an account in the box alongside and follow the instructions to confirm your details or print off a copy of the Membership form and send it to our membership secretary Ana Monteiro.
